Groove warmup 2
Here's another groove warmup-snippet from an old Instagram post. 4-bar groove loops with different layers of phrasings and 2- or 4-bar repetitions. The idea is to improvise a groove for one bar and then repeat it identically 3 times and then switch to a new groove again in bar 5, repeating the process for as long as possible without repeating any previous ideas and grooves. It's a nice physical and especially mental warmup that I like to do before recording sessions.

This is an Instagram post from a couple of years ago. I often just jam to a 4-bar sequence loop as a warmup before recording sessions. I like to use poly-phrasing layers in grooves to create unusually dense "grids" in grooves. They sound almost "sloppy" but are totally tight to unconventional grids. Try it out!

This was filmed in real time. That's how long it takes me to put on new heads on 8 tom toms. True story. Don't you love these clean, slick, mirrored heads? Yes you do. And so do I. Coolest drum heads ever. I used them a looong time ago but just recently rediscovered them. They sound killer too! More vid's with sound coming soon!
Recording my new Meinl Polyphonic Crashes for the first time

I had to record this jingle for a recent live stream intro and used my new Meinl Polyphonic Crashes for the first time. I am VERY impressed with their crisp and clean sound, their range of clean, warm frequencies, their perfect amount of wash and sustain and the way they feel.

Syncopated 32nd note double kick drum groove from the recent live steam

I did another version of that track with the syncopated 32nd kick pattern I wrote for the recent live stream on Drum Chanel, this time on the bigger kit. It's a fun track to play along to with a "drum and bass" vibe and a complex syncopated 32nd note kick pattern in the pre chorus and chorus. I'll put a more finished version of the track up for downloads shortly.

I'm using a DW Collector's Series 14 x 6.5 Nickel over Brass main snare, a 10 x 4 Jazz Series Snare in place of the rack tom, a 14 x 14 Collector's Series Snom in place of the floor tom and a 8" Remo TSS marching snare drum under my left HiHat. All snares funky EDM noodling because why not?

und schon teilweise traditionel grip.....böser thomas, da du in einem beitrag den traditionel grip sogar sozusagen negativ bewertest (ich stimme dir da auch zu) und deswegen auch umgestiegen bist. na, der traditionel grip scheint wohl doch noch zu stark in deiner motorik verankert zu sein 😊.

i got a used set of the roto toms kit Pearl "Varipitch" 3 toms 1 snare.... when i was 14 for christmas... early 80s.... i then bought a small remo 3 tom on the rack to add to it.... In 1996 i did a tour with a group.... fedex lost my bass drum... but i still have the toms and the snare...
